Crystal Restaurant

In a recent visit to Palm Desert, Gene Capozzi and I reminisce about the Crystal Restaurant, often fondly referred to as "The Greasy Spoon" and located for many years at 20 West Pike Street.

A haven for late nighters, their Coney Island  hot dogs especially topped with their chili sauce was a popular and  favorite choice. 

Does anyone remember whether their excellent chili sauce was tomato based or not?

As seen below, this same location was once "The Book Shop" before it moved in 1930 to its present location, of many years at 34 West Pike Street.
