Jim Finks - Pittsburgh’s other “Number 7

Circa August, 1951:
This is Pittsburgh’s other “Number 7” — Jim Finks.
Finks was drafted by the Steelers in 1949 and stayed with the team as quarterback and defensive back through the 1955 season.
His most lasting contribution to the game of football, however, came during his years as an executive. After his playing days, he coached and then served as a general manager and club president. He hired new coaches and built winning teams at Minnesota, Chicago and New Orleans. Twice he was named NFL Executive of the Year. Finks was nominated to succeed Pete Rozelle, who retired as NFL commissioner in 1989, but owners instead chose Paul Tagliabue.
Finks died of lung cancer at age 66 in 1994.
One year later, he was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Rowsey Rowswell - the first "Voice of the Pirates"

While most of Roswell's early broadcasts were solo, he was joined by Pirates' co-owner Bing Crosby and eventually his successor Bob Prince for many games.

He was famous for his unique sayings like "it's the old dipsy doodle, he swings and misses for strike three".
and,
"open the windows aunt Minnie, here she comes, it's a home run"
or,
"its' FOB folks" for full of bucks when they had the bases loaded.

The Demolition of Forbes Field.

As the chairs are being removed from the stadium, the scoreboard pays homage to the soon to be bygone era.
Forbes Field opened June 30, 1909 and was home to the Pittsburgh Pirates after their move from Exposition Park on the North Side.
The last game played at the ballpark was on June 28, 1970. It was demolished July 28, 1971.
Babe Ruth hit his last two home runs at the ballpark.
The actual home plate from Forbes Field has been preserved in the floor of Wesley W. Posvar Hall embedded in glass.
