The Town of Canonsburg and its Community Picnic

This article from the July 9th, 1951 edition of the Daily Notes provides a bit of insight into the community and Town of Canonsburg of the 1950's. 
The article talks of a Community Picnic, a day devoted to fun, neighborliness and renewing friendships. 
It indicates a vibrant town...  a town with a merchant list of over sixty(60) businesses(a typo indicates 6) supporting the community.
